Refreshing the Community

Category: Uncategorized

Author: Robert Setina, Regional Director of Plant Operations

As spring arrives, our team turns its attention to one of the most visible parts of our community: landscaping. Beautiful grounds do not happen by chance. They come from thoughtful planning, seasonal preparation, and steady attention to detail.

After winter, I take a proactive approach to refreshing our outdoor spaces. My goal is to keep them visually appealing, safe, and enjoyable for residents. As the Regional Director of Plant Operations over The Parkway Senior Living, I focus on the steps that help our community look its best each spring.

Maintaining First Impressions

I prioritize the appearance of the community, including landscaping, signage, the entryway, and the front exterior. These areas create strong first impressions for residents, families, and visitors.

When I identify opportunities for improvement, I work closely with our vendors to make sure the finished work meets community standards. For example, newly planted pots did not meet expectations, so I partnered with Focal Point to have them replanted. This helped bring the area more in line with our standards.

I also use available resources, such as SharePoint, along with support from my Executive Director and Regional Director. These tools and relationships help me stay informed and effective in my role.

In addition, I stay proactive with building maintenance needs. While I have some knowledge of HVAC systems, I also understand the value of involving licensed professionals when needed. Their support helps maintain equipment properly and extend its longevity.

Planning Ahead

I collaborate regularly with landscaping representatives to plan seasonal projects several months in advance. This gives vendors a clear understanding of the community’s needs. It also helps ensure they understand the standards we strive to uphold.

It is easy to see the finished product, but real success comes from teamwork. Coordination, accountability, and pride help bring each project together. These efforts ensure The Parkway Senior Living continues to meet the standards residents expect while setting the tone for the months ahead.
