As we age, health becomes a major focus of our daily lives. We begin to think more about eating well, getting enough exercise, and keeping our minds active. But health is more than that – it also includes our relationships with others, specifically intergenerational relationships.
According to an article in Press & News, there are the many benefits of intergenerational relationships between children and older adults.
At The Parkway Senior Living, we promote intergenerational relationships in many ways! Family events and holiday parties are a wonderful time at The Parkway to get intergenerational groups together with great success. We are working with local schools to have a closer relationship and do more in-person intergenerational activities.
When observing the interactions between children and older adults, it’s easy to see how much older adults really have to offer to children, and vice versa! They share smiles, memories, information, and more. There are so many positive benefits to intergenerational activities. It’s a bright spot in the lives of the older adults as well as the kids. The older adults enjoy sharing their stories and wisdom with the younger generations and the children learn a lot while engaging with elders. It brings happiness and smiles to everyone’s life!
Each of our communities works hard to foster intergenerational relationships and memorable experiences.
